Sullivan County Extension Annual Report Sullivan County is in the North-central area of Pennsylvania with Laporte as its county seat. The latest population lists the county as having 6184 residents. Dushore is the business district of the county. It has the largest population about 700. The county has 9 townships and 4 boroughs. Sullivan County is 82% forest with nearly one-third of the land area in Commonwealth of Pennsylvania ownership as Department of Conservation Natural Resources land and Pennsylania Game Commission lands. The county is the home of two state parks, Worlds End State Park and Ricketts Glen. The main waterway are the Loyalsock and Muncy Creek Watersheds. Main Roadways are Route 220 and Route 87. Agriculture and forestry are the main industries. Over 170 farms are listed in the PA Statictical Summary with 40 of them commercial dairy farms. Forages and some small grains are grown in the county mainly for livestock feeds. A Farmland Preservation program currently exists with Agricultural Security Areas. Sullivan
